Anonymous writes: Four men, two of whom were regular mall kids for many years and former students of my high school (not CHS!), were arrested yesterday on varying charges ranging from burglary to rape. One was also charged with the Dec. 9 shooting of two men on Rt. 29. Judging by what I already knew about these kids, it’s only a matter of time before the major drug connection becomes apparent. I know there was a shockwave through all the people I know my age this morning when we read the Progress, and a lot of those people are regular readers here. Terrible news indeed. One of the accused was a close friend of Craig Nordenson, AKA the Coal Tower Shooter. This guy had every opportunity in life. The best private school, the right kind of friends, a good family.
Nevertheless, we all thought that the guy was going to do something like this sooner or later.
Am I the only person who doesn’t understand this one bit? The progress article makes no sense. One guy shot someone, robbed someone, raped someone, and his buddies are suspects too? Who are these people? And what is this drug connection that waldo eludes to, I thought drug kingpins didn’t have to commit burglary. Are they just commiting random acts of violence for fun? I really dont get it. I dont recognize any of those names, are mug shots available?

It was posted by "Anonymous," not Waldo. I heard on the NPR station out of Roanoke at noon that the one they arrested for the shooting was none other than Jesse Crosson (sp?). His name is being released publicly now. And it’s not the slightest bit of a surprise. :(
I applogize, I’m just so used to these stories being posted by waldo. I should have read the poster’s name. My mistake.
Here’s the breakdown as I read it:
Crosson: shooting into an occupied vehicle, malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
White: rape, displaying a firearm in the commission of a felony
all four: burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, abduction, grand larceny

Crosson and White were widely known to be involved with moving drugs, namely cocaine. It’s also heavily rumored right now that the two older men with them were involved, perhaps even overseeing, the dealing.

Glad you clarified that Waldo. The phrase "my high school" and the reference to mall rats also lead me mistakenly to assume the suspects attended the Living Education Center for Ecology and the Arts.
At least I think that was a mistake. Anyway I wish to emphasize: the Living Education Center does not include rape and drug abuse in its curriculumn. Nor can you blame any school for this sort of thing, with the possible exception of the state funded crime college known as jail.

I think this story has more to do with the sales of narcotics than their use. And I do believe that attempted murder is a more serious offense and not to be left out of your summation of the story.
