Does anyone know if Davies is as knee-jerk a supporter of new roads as Carter Myers was/is?

I don’t know if “knee-jerk” is the right description; unlike Myers, Davies is pretty well-respected by a variety of types of people, and is at least regarded as a thoughtful guy. It’s true, though, that he’s from an area (Culpeper, Madison, Greene, etc., I think) that is very pro-bypass.

I agree. You’ll have a hard time finding someone who speaks ill of Davies.

I think it is important to remember that he’ll be representing us, too — and not just exclusively his (personal) home area in Culpeper. Good politicans know those whom they represent.

And, besides, while the folks to the north of us might be more inclined to new road projects like the Bypass or the MCP, they are nowhere near as crazed about such (potential, future) matters as the folks to the south of us — in Lynchburg and Danville; down there the business folk still think that a new road will bring them untold riches.
