Crozet Gazette on the 1959 Ivy Tornado

It’s the 50th anniversary of the Ivy tornado. I’ve heard stories about this, but never a proper story, and certainly never photos. (Via The Hook)  #

  • Check your HTML. (End quote on href, end anchor tag.)

  • Thanks, Tim! I wish browsers weren’t so forgiving of errors…

  • It’s a mixed blessing. Ever tried serving XHTML as application/xml xhtml with an unencoded ampersand in an href somewhere in the page? Whole page fails to render in compliant browsers.

Of course, if the server did XML parsing of the output before sending out the page (else showing a generic server error and notifying you), that would be more acceptable.

would someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe this tornado ran along the ridge line of the mountain where the present day Peacock Hill subdivision is located and the Morris family lived near or close to the top of that mountain. Correct?
