There are very few local websites (I could stop this sentence right here) that have any real impact off-line, but Charlottesville Tomorrow has got to be the best at this.

I agree. And the thing I like best about the Charlottesville Tommorrow website, are the podcasts of the public meetings/events! Not everyone is able to attend, and those podcasts are almost as good as being there.
