Escaped Convict Caught in WV

Oscar Junior McCauley IV, a convicted felon who who esacaped from a Nelson County sheriff’s deputy three weeks ago, has been captured in West Virginia. At 4:30am yesterday morning, Albemarle police responded to a report of a stabbing and the abduction of 29-year-old Christian Brooke McCauley, and another report of a stabbing of 29-year-old Anthony Ray Shifflett. Though today’s story in the Progress gets quite muddled from there, one can only assume that Oscar McCauley was accused of these stabbings, though it’s quite impossible to determine at what point the abducted Christian McCauley was released, or what the details of that are. No matter, Oscar McCauley was arrested in Ranson, WV and is being held in Martinsburg on $1M bail. The story also explains the circumstances surrounding his escape: he somehow unlocked his handcuffs while in the back of the deputy’s car, and asked the deputy for a cigarrette. He obliged, and McCauley hit the deputy in the head, took his handgun, and took off running. Today’s Progress has the details. Kind of.

What I would like to know is , why haven’t they

charged his wife with anything, she say’s she was abducted, but the report in Thursday Daily Progess

say’s she was right in the hotel with him,not tied up or otherwise restrained from leaving. And

who do you supose got him the handcuff key that helped him to escape in the first place, had to be somebody close to him.I think there’s a whole

lot his wife’s not telling, I know someone who knows her, the report that Oscar stabed her, is not correct, he did stab the guy he caught her

with,at the home she shared with Oscar.I quess

when she said tell death do us part, she really

meant until you go to jail,I hear Oscar has only been in jail since the first part of Nov.2001,

thats what three months? I quess some people just

    can’t control those needs!

Amen. The police department continues to demonstrate their incompetence.

IT’S MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THEY ARE STILL INVESTAGATING HIS WIFE,AND HER INVOLEMENT IN ALL THIS,SEEMS THEY HAVE SOME NEW EVIDENCE,AND MY

INFORMATION COMES FROM A VERY RELIABLE SORCE.

I don’t believe his wife was involved. There are other ways to restrain someone, besides physically. I am sure that the trauma she obviously went through that night, was enough to scare her into doing exactly what he said. She did witness someone being stabbed, and I am sure she was in fear for her life.

And who said that oscar had a handcuff key?? I had assumed that the deputy that transported him didn’t have cuffs on him, or at least not tight enough (if the deputy was going to give him a cigarette he was probably trying to make him nice & comfy on the long ride to the jail!) Maybe whoever posted the previous message has some info. that the rest of us aren’t privy to??

everdently you did’nt read the paper, they stated , when the officer went to give him the cigrette, he had gotten out of the Handcuffs, comman sense tells me there’s only one way to get out of those, A KEY, unless maybe you can tell us another way.
