School is closed in Madison County Schools for today, and possibly longer, prompted by an outbreak of whooping cough. The illness (which is not deadly, but a real bummer) is quite contagious, so the small number of infections so far led the Thomas Jefferson Area Health District to shut things down to keep things from spreading further.
