No, this is not for reals. They are just putting some gravel down and spraying some crap on top of it. 6 months from now it will be exactly the same. They need to pave it already. As it stands, I avoid parking my car there on general principle when I take a train on an overnight trip. Seriously, the idea of paying them money for the privilege of parking on that BMX dirt bike track is absurd.
Seriously, it’s like they’re going out of their way to avoid solving the problem.
I hope it is back to potholes in a few months. Anything that slows the take over of this town by wussy yuppies is fine by me. “Whaaaa, mommy, those bad people got dust on my Range Rover!!!!”
Gravel gets added every year. I hope this spray stuff is safe and that it works.
I hate the last bit of my walk home because of all that dirt (I live on the other side of the tracks from the lot). I walk in a cloud from the bridge over the tracks to my door when there are people driving through the space. It might not sound like that big of a deal, but it happens almost every day. I feel for the people trying to eat outside at Mel’s, L’Etoile, and Maya.
On top of the dust problem, the sidewalk by the entrance to the lot is a pretty treacherous, especially in rain or snow. I don’t know why, but those sidewalks are slanted.
Anyway, I’m happy they are making an effort to improve the property.
PAVE IT! PAVE IT! PAVE IT! PAVE IT! PAVE IT! PAVE IT! PAVE IT! PAVE IT!PAVE IT! PAVE IT! PAVE IT! PAVE IT!PAVE IT! PAVE IT! PAVE IT! PAVE IT!PAVE IT! PAVE IT! PAVE IT! PAVE IT!PAVE IT! PAVE IT! PAVE IT! PAVE IT!PAVE IT! PAVE IT! PAVE IT! PAVE IT!
Maybe they’re holding off from paving it in hopes that a developer will snatch it up and do something useful with the property. It’s in such a prime location that could really energize West Main. It’s a shame to see it wasted on just another parking lot.
