Spudnuts is #1

MSN says Spudnuts makes the best doughnuts in the country. The Rolling Stones munched on ’em when they played here in 2005, I have cause to know.  #

FWIW, the cause-to-know link seems to be broken.

  • Oops! I make that mistake all the time — you’d think I’d learn. :) It’s fixed now.

Um, Waldo, me thinks you didn’t get the full story. From Page 1 of the article:

“A few months ago on the pages of MSN I recommended 10 doughnut shops around the country worthy of the designation, ‘America’s Best Doughnuts.'”

“In response to the doughnut obsessed American public – especially all you fried-dough fiends from Indianapolis – I’ve put together a second doughnut list based mostly on reader comments, with a few of my favorites thrown in which unfortunately I had to omit the first time around.”

    So, this is #11-23?

I’m not knocking Spudnuts because Lord knows I’ve had my fair share and wouldn’t mind a few this morning, but even I would be hard-pressed to call it #1 in the country. I’ve been to Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans (mentioned in the first article) and if I had to choose, I’d take Cafe Du Monde’s doughnuts pretty much every day.

Still, getting listed first in the second article (#11?) is something Spudnuts should be proud of.

I see no mention of the Spudnuts in the linked article. You got some ‘xplain to do, Waldo

  • Meg says:

I saw it in the article, perlogik. Not sure how you missed it, unless your browser redirected you to another page.

However, I think Waldo owes us all Spudnuts for making us all have to read about how wonderful they are, especially for those of us who don’t work anywhere near the place :)

The time I was a roadie for The Rolling Stones. was the link
Meg, where in the artilce is it?

  • Meg says:

Oh, sorry. I thought you were saying you couldn’t find Spud Nuts mentioned in the MSN article.

  • I didn’t mean to create confusion, Perlogik — I was just providing a little supporting evidence of why I’d be familiar with what the Rolling Stones ate while they were in town. :)

I was a little puzzled by that, too. It’s not clear to me whether this is #11-23, or whether this is a revised top 12. As you can see, I settled on the latter, but not without some hesitation.

Yes. Cafe du Monde, if you mean the ones (they serve only one kind I think) with the light dusting of powder with the coffee that will jerk one to attention.

  • Cville Eye says:

Since my opinion is just as good as anyone else’s, I say Spudnuts is #1 in the world. I also agree with Meg. Cough up some Spudnuts, Waldo.

  • Perlogik says:

If with you Van but I never had them with a “light” dusting of powdered sugar, is that an opinion?

  • van says:

    – well my memory says “light dusting of something white”- I`m sure it wasn`t a controlled substance – sugar? maybe- – I dunno.
